Episode 17 of The Common Man Chronicles, “Spice Crisis,” shows that sometimes the scariest season isn’t winter, but fall — when coffee loses its way.
It begins with the annual invasion: pumpkins piled high, autumn leaves taped to windows, and chalkboards scribbled with festive specials. The air is thick with nutmeg and cinnamon, and the barista beams with pride at the menu. Pumpkin Spice Latte. Pumpkin Cold Brew. Pumpkin Mocha. Every option a sugary ode to the gourd.
The Common Man steps to the counter, thermos tucked under his arm, eyes narrowing at the sight. He scans the board once, then twice, but the truth is clear — coffee has gone missing. The barista waits, ready to explain the subtle joys of cinnamon foam and whipped cream drizzle.
Instead, he leans in with a deadpan stare and asks the only question that matters: “Got anything that tastes like… coffee?” The words hit harder than a jack-o’-lantern to the face. The barista blinks. The menu stares back in silence. Even the pumpkins on the counter seem to slump in shame.
Around him, the season swirls on — orange décor, cheerful chatter, cinnamon steam. But The Common Man remains unmoved, standing firm with his dented thermos and stubborn resolve. He isn’t here for pumpkin, spice, or seasonal cheer.
Just coffee. Black. Strong. Honest.
And in a world gone gourd, that’s the real rebellion.
More bold brews brewing next week…
