Percolator Predicament

Episode 14 of The Common Man Chronicles, “Percolator Predicament,” proves that sometimes progress… isn’t progress at all.

It starts simple enough: a brand-new, shiny coffee machine on the counter, fresh out of the box. The Common Man stands beside it, arms crossed, ready to see if this high-tech contraption can brew as good as it looks.

But when the display lights up with a smug message — “Connect to BrewCloud™ to continue” — his eyebrow lifts higher than the steam from his mug. The machine, it turns out, won’t make a drop without an internet handshake.

He studies the plug in his hand, muttering, “Pretty sure my old percolator never needed Wi-Fi.” And just like that, the decision is made. Moments later, the gleaming gadget is resting in the trash bin, while The Common Man strolls back toward the house, trusty dented percolator in hand.

Back in the kitchen, the familiar gurgle and hiss of hot coffee fills the air. He pours a steaming cup into his rugged metal mug, wearing the kind of quiet smile that comes from knowing the job’s done right.

“A good cup of coffee,” he says, “doesn’t require internet.”
