Episode 18 of The Common Man Chronicles, “Grounded at 30,000 Feet,” proves that while the skies may be turbulent, some things never spill — especially coffee poured by steady hands.
The scene opens inside a cramped airplane cabin mid-flight. The seatbelt sign blinks. Overhead bins rattle. Passengers grip their armrests as the plane lurches, eyes wide with panic. Drinks leap from trays, soda cans spin midair, and a flight attendant stumbles sideways down the aisle. Chaos fills the cabin.
All except one seat.
There sits The Common Man, calm as a stone in a river, his blue work shirt pressed against the seatback, fedora shadowing eyes that show no fear. While others pray or gasp, he unscrews his dented thermos with the same deliberate care as if he were at his own kitchen table. Steam curls upward as he pours a perfect stream of hot coffee into his rugged metal mug. Not a drop missed. Not a shake acknowledged.
Around him, the storm rages. But his hand is steady, his face unflinching. “The world may shake,” the narrator reminds us, “but the Common Man never does.”
At 30,000 feet, balance isn’t found in wings or engines — it’s found in grit, in calm, and in a thermos of black coffee.
More grounded tales brewing next week…
